Njoku Emmanuel is a blockchain engineer, CEO and Co-founder of lazerpay, An African crypto payment gateway startup.

He’s a native of Enugu state, a region in South-East part of the country.

Njoke Emmanuel is the second child out of four children of his parents.

His Tech journey started after his aunt who is a robotics engineer introduced him to it ever since then he has developed a strong interest in space.

According to him growing up his parents wanted him to study Medicine and Surgery because of his level of intelligence which he was not interested in.

Because of his love for Mathematics and electronics, he made up his mind that his going to study software engineering which made later him start having issues with his parents.

His uncle offered to bring him over to the UK if he agrees to study Medicine which he refused because of his love for Technology.

Back Then he had a laptop that he used for coding and building games in C++.

After the back and forth with his parents he later got admission to Enugu State University of Science and Technology to study electrical electronics engineering which made him happy because his living his father’s house.

It was during his year one in the university he met his best friend, Kelly who is also a programmer and web developer who later introduced him to other developers.

His head of department in the church saw his love for software development and introduced him to a guy called Ugochukwu the CEO of, Xend Finance who was the first person he worked for as a game developer who later introduced him to Ebube, a lead game developer.

His meeting with Ugochukwu made him stop going to classes because his always busy at the office working.

Njoku Emmanuel built a website with his friends called QR aqua where residents of Enugu state can order water tankers to supply them water which was later dropped because people were not interested in it. After the project, he got website deals with his friends.

Njoku Emmanuel later switched from electrical electronics engineering to computer science and later dropped out in 2020.

After his drop out of school, he attended a hackathon in Lagos where he built his first smart contract because of the task given to his Team which was on the blockchain.

Njoku later got a job in a company in Port Harcourt where he worked as a frontend developer which was a four-month contract where he was paid N280,000.

In June 2020 a company called hydro blockchain reached out to him through email where he worked on their wallet application and some other projects

In January 2021 he started applying for remote jobs on blockchain companies after which he got an interview with defi Protocol called, MakerDAO.

He was later employed to work as their blockchain integrations engineer and he was paid a salary of $2500 every month which was later upgraded to $5000 with the allocation of Mkr token $300k

The idea for lazerpay started when he wanted to make donations to a charity organisation using their crypto payment method which did go through after so many attempts.

After which he called his Abdulfatai who later became his Co-founder to complain about the while he was answering the call he concluded that his going to build a crypto payment gateway after which his friend join him in Dubai and started building the platform.
