He came from Iruekpen Ekpoma in Edo State, a region in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
He began his education journey at Iruekpen Grammar School where he was later made the senior prefect because of how brilliant he is.

He was admitted to study at Ambrose Alli University where he later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
In 2002 he proceeded to the University of Calabar where he later obtained his Masters in Business Administration.
In 2006 Mark Akhabue joined Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA) and an Associate Member Nigeria Institute of Taxation (ACIT) in 2012.
